FICLosCabos 2025: Dates, Program and Eugenio Caballero Tribute

The Los Cabos International Film Festival (FICLosCabos) will celebrate its 13th edition from December 10 through 14, 2025, in Puerto Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, under the theme #BeyondTheScreen.

The 2025 edition will expand beyond traditional cinema with experiences connected to music, digital art, animation, and gastronomy, according to Paola Desentis, Festival Director.

Desentis also highlighted the festival’s focus on raising awareness of the biodiversity of the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez) and environmental preservation, integrating these themes throughout the program.

FICLosCabos 2025 and Its Cultural Impact

Cinemex, the festival’s main partner for more than a decade, was highlighted by Desentis as an important part of the event’s consolidation and its role as a platform for independent film, cultural dialogue, and international talent.

Eugenio Caballero Tribute and Masterclass

One of the main highlights of FICLosCabos 2025 will be an official tribute to Eugenio Caballero, the Mexican production designer.

Caballero is:

  • Winner of the Oscar for Best Art Direction for Pan’s Labyrinth (2007).
  • Academy Award nominee for Roma (2019).

During the festival, Caballero will host a masterclass exploring his creative methodology, the future of filmmaking in the age of artificial intelligence, and artistic storytelling as a total narrative experience.

Emerging Mexican Filmmakers Panel

The festival will also feature a panel discussion with Mexican filmmakers, including:

  • Gerardo Coello
  • Adolfo Margulis
  • Ximena Lamadrid

The discussion will be moderated by David Zonana, director of Heroico.

Featured Screenings

One of the highlighted screenings is Depeche Mode: M by Fernando Frías, director of I’m No Longer Here.

The film is described as a hybrid cinematic work combining British music, existential reflections on life and death, and cultural perspectives rooted in Mexico.

Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund and Animation Expansion

FICLosCabos will continue strengthening project selection for the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund, in strategic partnership with ESCINE.

The program will continue supporting up to five post-production feature films, with a historical total of more than 43 million pesos in in-kind production support, according to the information provided.

For the first time, animation will become part of the official FICLosCabos lineup, with a selection curated by ESCINE.

The festival has also announced its Official Animation Call for Entries 2026, expanding its involvement in the animation sector.

Tickets and Expected Attendance

The 13th edition is expected to attract approximately 1,000 attendees, with a curated audience combining local and international film enthusiasts.

Special-price ticket presales began on November 4, and tickets are available through the festival’s official platforms.
